INSTITUTE OF AERODYNAMICS AND GAS DYNAMICS | AT THE EARLIEST CONVENIENCE

The professorship represents the field of "Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)" in teaching and research. It aims to advance the development of methods and algorithms of numerical simulation including innovative approaches, e.g. from the field of artificial intelligence, and their efficient application to engineering problems in aerospace engineering in the areas of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics.

We are seeking for an internationally visible research personality with an outstanding scientific background distinguished by high-ranking scientific publications or patents in at least one of the following areas:

  • Development and application of high accuracy numerical methods in fluid mechanics including fluid physics modeling,
  • Artificial intelligence methods and uncertainty quantification in fluid mechanics,
  • Methods for model reduction and multidisciplinary optimization.

In terms of teaching, compulsory and in-depth courses on numerical methods are to be held for engineers in the bachelor's and master's degree programs in aerospace engineering. In addition, elective lectures on the design and application of numerical methods are expected in the specialization field "Numerical and Experimental Simulation".

Anforderungsprofil

In addition to research and teaching, the duties of the future position holder include active acquisition of third-party funding, participation in research cooperations and especially in the Cluster of Excellence SimTech of the University of Stuttgart, as well as active participation in the academic self-administration.

The hiring requirements of §§ 47 and 50 of the Baden-Württemberg State University Act apply.
