Analytic Computing is the nucleus for a new Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Universität Stuttgart, Germany. The new institute is endowed by the Cyber Valley Initiative that joins AI research at the Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen and the Max-Planck-Institute for Intelligent Systems.

We invite applications for a full-time position as

             Project Lead (100% TV-L E 14) researching foundations of knowledge graphs

Research interests in the group range from knowledge graphs, to machine learning, natural language processing, intelligent interactive systems, and reflection on Web, AI and society. This position will focus on research in knowledge graphs and the person selected will teach and lead a couple of projects in this area. The duration of the position is initially limited to 3 years.

The salary amounts to German TV-L E 14, which starts at approx. 54,400 Euro income per year (before taxation). The position is open as of July 1, 2021.

What You Will Contribute

You will advise Ph.D. students working in projects related to querying of and formal reasoning with knowledge graphs, possibly including machine learning for knowledge graphs. You will teach, advise and tutor bachelor and master students in the computer and data science programs of the department in topics related to your research. You will develop your own research agenda in the area of knowledge graphs and build a track record wrt. publications, project leadership and project acquisition in this research area.


A candidate for the position is required to have published in internationally renowned conferences on knowledge graphs or related areas, such as formal methods or machine learning, and will have a doctorate in computer science or a related field. Good social and communication skills will be expected. We particularly encourage the applications of individuals from underrepresented groups.
